The end of summer and the beginning of fall are the perfect time to see sunflowers. Their bright yellow color and large size make them happy flowers that are always favorites for photos. Whether you just want to take a walk among the cheerful flowers, plan to pick some to take home with you, or you’re looking for a fun photo op, there are several places you can visit in the Bucks County area to do just that.

Hellerick’s Family Farm
5500 N. Easton Road, Doylestown

Sunflower Days begin around August 15 (weather conditions have it delayed by about 2 weeks this year) and runs daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (6:30 p.m. is last admission). Reservations are required and access to Adventure Farm is included with your ticket. So in addition to walking (or riding a wagon) out to the sunflower fields, you can enjoy over 40 kid-friendly activities. Sunflower stems are $3 each or 3/$5, 8/$10. Tickets are $14.99 per person and include 1 free sunflower. Children 2 and under are free.
Hellerick’s is also partnering with local photographers to offer photo sessions in their sunflower fields. Instead of needing to find a photographer on your own, you can book 15-minute sessions directly through their site. Pricing starts at $140. If you book this way, you do not need to purchase tickets to Sunflower Festival. Admission is included. Find out more HERE.
Shady Brook Farm
931 Stony Hill Road, Yardley

In addition to the flowers themselves, Shady Brook has several fun photo spots “hidden” out in their fields. Be sure to look for the pickup truck, Barbie box, bath tub, and painted Volkswagen Beetle and school bus! And, of course, no trip to Shady Brook is complete without stopping for some Uncle Dave’s ice cream on the way out. Kids can also play on the small playground by the Market.
Shady Brook offers pick-you-own sunflowers Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Picking passes are $5 per person online or $7 in person. Flowers are $3 a stem, 5 for $10, 12 for $15, metal bucket for $20 or logo cup for $10.
