Get out and enjoy fall and Halloween fun with your kids without spending a lot of money! Here’s a list of free things to do in October!
Please note that there are LOADS of trunk or treat events in the area and most have free admission. So I did NOT include them all here. Check out that list HERE.
Scarecrows at Peddler’s Village
When: Now through October 26
Where: Routes 202 and 263, Lahaska

Peddler’s Village offers several ways to celebrate Halloween and fall. Visit any day through October 26 to see the scarecrows throughout the Village. While you’ll likely be tempted to do some shopping or get a bite to eat, it’s totally free to just walk around. Trick or Treat around the village from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on October 26.
Tip: France’s Best Antique store is about 10 minutes away and there are sculptures all around outside that are so fun for kids to walk through and take pictures among. (Also free!)
Fall Lil Sprouts Tune Time with Miss Sally at Shady Brook Farm
When: Wednesdays through October 29 at 11 a.m.
Where: 931 Stony Hill Road, Yardlley
Music will be on the patio stage or in the barn depending on the weather. Wear Halloween costumes on October 29! Free class.
Lower Bucks Halloween Tour
When: October 11 through November 1 from dusk til 10 p.m.
Where: Select houses in Bucks County
Visit the Facebook group The Lower Bucks Holiday Tour to view different routes (with approx. 100 spooky houses total) that have been planned out for different areas in Bucks County. There are links and QR codes so that it’ll give you directions to follow via your phone!
Light Up 394
When: Opening Night is October 10
Where: 394 Hidden Oaks Drive, Yardley

Light Up 394 is always a favorite for us! Their entire front yard and driveway is covered in a just spooky enough display that is so fun to walk through with the kids. This year, there’s a new pirate themed area! Their Grand Opening is October 10 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with special goodies for kids.
Nightmares on Lower Orchard Drive
When: Daily from dusk to 10 p.m. from your car, walk thru open Friday through Sunday
Where: 72 Lower Orchard Drive, Levittown
Awesome scary home display that you can either view from your car or get out and walk around.
Styer Orchard
When: Daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Check Facebook for any changes.)
Where: 97 Styers Lane, Langhorne

If you’re looking for a farm experience without the frills, head to Styers. You can pick apples or pumpkins, take a hayride, shop their huge variety of pumpkin and squash … and you only pay for what you bring home. Admission and rides are free. This is also a great spot if you want to take some pictures without paying admission like so many of the other farms nearby. Styers is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Terhune Orchards
When: Weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: 330 Cold Soil Road, Princeton

While they have live music, pony rides, pumpkin painting and more on the weekends, you CAN visit for pumpkin/apple picking, visit the market and see the animals and play area during the week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You need tickets on the weekends, it’s free to visit during the week!
YMCA Boo Bash + Trunk or Treat
When: Friday, October 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Where: Fairless Hills, Doylestown and Quakertown locations
Free community event with trick or treating, crafts, games, and more! Open to the public.
Historic Bristol Day
When: Saturday, October 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Bristol Borough
Enjoy live music and other forms of entertainment throughout the day. Be sure to visit Children’s Corner at the Grundy Library.
Halloween Activities at Bucks County Libraries

I spotted a “Not So Scary Spooktacular” Let’s Play session at the Bensalem library at 11:00 on 10/30, a Hocus Pocus Badge Squad program with crafts and play at 4:00 on 10/30 at Bensalem, and a costume parade at the Langhorne library at 11:00 on 10/31.
Halloween Spooktacular at New Jersey State Museum
When: Saturday, October 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: 205 West State Street, Trenton
Come enjoy fun, spooky activities and games at the annual Halloween event! Enjoy making slime and playing games, then participate in the trick or treat costume parade at 12:00 pm. Don’t forget to pick up a coupon for $2 off any Planetarium show that day.
Upper Southampton Halloween Pumpkin Mash
When: Saturday, October 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: 1255 2nd Street Pike, Southampton
Hayrides, face painting, mini golf, pumpkin painting, sand art, balloon artist, and more! Hunt for pumpkins in the park and check out the creepy crawly bug exhibit.
The Shops at Valley Square Trick or Treat
When: Saturday, October 25 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Route 611 and Street Road, Warrington
Trick or treat at participating stores. There will also be music, food trucks, bounce houses, face painting, and entertainment from Go with Yo Yo!
Halloween with the Horses hosted by Warriors Within
When: Sunday, October 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Where: 120 Cowpath Road, Telford
Enjoy a bit of Halloween fun while you visit with the horses! This is a free event, though donations are appreciated. There are also 50/50 raffles. Lawn games, refreshments, loot bags for the first 40 kids. Pony rides from 11 to 2.
Tricks and Treats at Pennsbury Manor
When: Sunday, October 26 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Where: 400 Pennsbury Memorial Road, Morrisville

Kids can trick or treat around the site, learn about history and even sit in on a “witch trial.” Help press cider, see animals, enjoy fall crafts, games, and more. Free admission!
Trunk or Treat at Calvary Bristol
When: Sunday, October 26 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: 250 Green Lane, Bristol
Come in costume for trick or treat. There will be firetrucks, hayrides, puppets! Free event.
Croydon Haunted Hollows presents Horror Icons: Famous, Feared, Forever
When: Sunday, October 26 and Friday, October 31 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (sensory friendly experiences available both days from 5-6)
Where: 507 Girard Avenue, Croydon
50 volunteers put on a good old fashioned scary haunted Halloween walk-through experience. Candy will be handed out. Come in costume! Free photobooth.
Canal-O-Ween in Yardley
When: Sunday, October 26 through November 1 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: N. Edgewater Ave/Canal Towpath between Fuld Ave and Afton Ave. Free parking is available on the corner of Fuld and Morgan Ave. If you’d like to take park in the Carve-O-Thon, that takes place on October 26 from noon to 3 p.m.

Take a walk along the canal while viewing hundreds of carved pumpkins! Highly recommend going to dinner at one of Yardley’s great restaurants on Main Street before or after. We like to have an early dinner and then go right as it’s getting dark at 6. You get to see the pumpkins while there is still a bit of light walking one way, and then in darkness on the walk back.
Mall-O-Ween at Montgomery Mall
When: Friday, October 31 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: 230 Montgomery Mall, North Wales
Come in costume and enjoy dancing and signing, face painting, candy, treats, and photo ops!
