Looking for something cute, tasty and easy to make for Easter? I’ve got you covered. For this dessert, you’ll take the simple Oreo pudding “dirt” treat and give it a little decorative twist for Easter.
The standard dirt recipe is simply chocolate pudding topping with crushed Oreos, and then I typically think of it topped with gummy worms. There are so many ways to switch it up to fit a theme though. Here, I got the idea to dip strawberries in orange melting chocolate to look like carrots sticking out of the dirt. (You could also add Peep bunnies and/or coconut flakes dyed green for grass!)
The ingredient list is super short and it’s no-bake! Making it an easy dessert to whip up for the holiday. (Plus, this is a great one for kids to help!)
Ingredients:
15 oz. package of Oreos (or similar cookies)
3.9 oz. package of chocolate instant pudding mix
2 cups cold milk
Strawberries (at least 1 per person), washed and COMPLETELY dried
Orange candy melts (or white melting chocolate and a few drops or food coloring.)
Directions:
Place the cookies in a resealable plastic bag and crush them using a rolling pin. OR, use a food processor.
In a large bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes.
Choose your serving dish (see below for ideas) and add cookie crumbs to the bottom, then a layer of pudding, and then a top layer of cookie crumbs.
While your pudding is chilling, heat the orange candy melts according the the package directions.
Carefully dip the strawberries into the melted candy, holding it gently by the stem. Let the excess drip off and them place them on a parchment lined baking sheet to dry. To speed up the process, you can place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes to set.
Before serving, place the candy-coated strawberries on the top of the chocolate pudding/cookie dirt.
Serving Suggestions:
Plastic cups or small ramekins (like I used here) make for great single-serving desserts – no cutting and scooping needed! Everyone just takes their own.
OR, you could fill a large glass baking dish with layers of chocolate pudding and crushed Oreos and top with rows of strawberries poking out for a carrot patch!
Cute ideas😁
